A Bad Habit Just got better… and healthier too!!!!

So.. one of the worst habits I maintained throughout my career in World of Warcraft is smoking 30 – 40 cigs a day. I mean what else is there to do whilst grinding mindlessly and levelling up my nth alt. Cigs helped pass this lonesome and monotonous time.

The problem is, apart from them things being unhealthy. They also stink the house out. Luckily my pad isn’t what you would call luxurious and the land lord couldn’t care less, however I subconsciously began to hate the stink of the house. Plus I’ve noticed less and less people now participating in this once must have habit and bringing back the honeys after a night out drinking started to become a gamble as to whether or not they would actually endure the odour.

Recently, I began noticing a lot of people sucking on the cheroot type devices and upon study realised they were actually electronical cigarettes. The funny part was these things didn’t smell.

I quickly decided to give these things a try and went to the local co-op and bought  what looked like a the top of the range device only to be disappointed it tasted terrible. The idea though worked and I saw myself being able to use this permanently.

A couple of weeks of study and getting aquatinted on the e cig forums (I mean common? grinding is boring) I found out, there were much much better devices out there. Ones you needed to build yourself and control how much voltage is applied etc. So my earnings down the drain I obtained a spanking awesome piece of hardware. Loved it! until the allergies kicked in. I later found out it was down to the PG used in the e liquid ingredients.

Thankfully I also learnt there are allergy free e liquids out there. Ones that don’t contain PG, but Glycerin instead. I came across a site called Ichor liquid which specialises in the stuff.

V. Happy camper now. The only problem now is I can’t put the damn thing down and go through like 5 ml a day. Still cheaper than the fags though.

Oh well back to grinding.

WoWing with Seborrheic Dermatitis

Here’s a quickie I must get off my chest, while a new patch is updating.

I’ve suffered seborrheic dermatitis for many years now and just recently it started on my hands causing some discomfort whilst gaming.

My symptoms are pretty normal i.e. my skin is red, flaky and extremely itchy. I have had it all over my body, just not on my hands until very recently.

seborrheic dermatitis (Not my Hands – but they look a bit like this)

Who would have thought that even though I have all the money in the world, I have so far found nothing that truly works to get rid of it. Needless to say. It isn’t a pretty site, and after a mammoth 12 hour gaming session leaves my hands looking like victims of a cheese grater.

The good news though is that they heal up overnight ready for a slaughtering the next day. So while it never fully heals, just like in Ground Hog Day, my hands are back to where they were the next morning.

I have tried many natural treatments and changed my diet to include more vegetables, ginger and herbs, which has helped some.

My girlfriend is sympathetic at least, as she has problems of her own (Don’t make me tell) and at the end of the day I see more of her character online than seeing her face to face (I am a self-confessed geek remember!).

Those that have this condition, I feel your pain. I recently came across this site that suggests using UV therapy as a means to cure it. I will be sure to give this ago as I am ready to try anything. Those that have this nasty seborrheic dermatitis condition any thoughts on this treatment?
